The CREDO Conference Curriculum
The CREDO curriculum is designed to trigger personal discovery through guided reflection, introspection, and dialogue. It addresses individually and in community the questions of "Who am I?" and "Who is God calling me to be?" It is organized around four components of each person's personal and professional life, each explored as an integral part of the whole.
- Spiritual Component — ensures that the conference becomes and remains a sacred space where each participant can reflect on his or her interior life and relationship with God in Christ.
- Vocational Component — provides opportunity for reflection, discernment, and planning in the professional areas of vocation, career, and work.
- Health Component — offers opportunities for reflection in the areas of physical and emotional health and well-being, stewardship of the body, and the development of a specific plan to address individual health needs.
- Financial Component — encourages reflection on God-given resources and how these might be best used in response to God's call. All aspects of personal financial management are explored.
Through a discernment and visioning process, each participant builds a CREDO Plan — a personal covenant based on work done in the four component areas and a formal expression of the CREDO experience. Its purpose is to provide a personal baseline and strategy for effective implementation.
Selection Process
Clergy selected to participate in CREDO are chosen randomly within age categories from the Board of Pension's database. Invitations are issued annually each summer, and enrollment is on a first-come, first-served basis. Conferences tend to fill quickly, so you are encouraged to reply promptly to your invitation if you wish to attend.
Cost for Participation
The cost for participation in an 8-day CREDO conference is $500. The bulk of the conference costs, including room, board, and travel fees, is absorbed by CREDO through the Assistance Programs of the Board of Pensions of the Presbyterian Church, U.S.A.
